Itineraries : Early Middle Ages and the Longobards

Following this route you will discover a fascinating population, protagonist, as from the IV century a.C., of the Early Middle Ages, one of the main Italian historical period still bearing several mysterious aspects. This itinerary will lead you through the main historical events of the Longobards’ people, who were also famous for a very refined gold production. By visiting the archaeological collections you will have the opportunity to plunge in a distant dimension, discovering facts, habits and rites of this nomad people coming from Northern-Central Europe and which left the most interesting vestiges in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, or more specifically in the town of Cividale del Friuli –anciently known as Forum Iulii and appointed by Alboino as main site of the first dukedom-. You will go over the changes of their forms of life and art determined by the influences of Christianism and previous populations.
